I like comfortable and baggy. I could fit an L with a 35 waist, but usually opt for XL to be comfy. In these I ’ m glad I purchased the 2XL. Just the right bagginess to be comfy at home, skating, lounging, or running errands. Still a little short in the length for 5 ’ 11 ”, 194, but absolutely loves these and feel blessed to own the navy, khaki/tan, and the black. The hand pockets have a quality zip closure, and the cargo pockets have a nice button closure that is solid. Thermals or sleep flannel underneath in the winter are a great pair. It is also light enough that when washed i do n't need to put it in the dryer, i just hang it to air dry. The recommended use is hiking and when hiking the elastic waist band would 've been more comfortable with all that moving and bending you will do. As for water repellence, Like the sten, it's worth having Greenland wax to put a few coats for before your adventures to add more resistance. I love these hiking trousers!! I live in the Midwest and I did not know how they would hold up in our really cold winters. They are great in the snow and wet cold. I add a layer underneath for warmth and the trousers do the rest. I tend to be hard on jeans and cargo pants but these are just as rugged and really lightweight. In addition to hiking, I do a lot of outdoor shooting and needless to say these do just fine for a day at the range. They arrived extra long, but I understand why, I washed them twice and then took them to get altered and it has been great ever since. What an amazing product!!

These are the best pants ever!! As a woman, I originally tried on the two versions of the women's convertible pants, but they are completely inferior. Besides the difference in fit, the men's pant comes with a belt( this adjusting buckle type of belt is the best and stays put even when hiking) and the women's does not. Additionally, this pant has pockets on both thighs and two in the back, and the women's has half that and are much less useful. I love the variety in pocket types in this pant( open vs zip vs velco flap), great for storing my dirty bits and paper map and fire starter all separately. Super lightweight, so wearing the full pant never seems like overkill. I have five pairs of this pant now, with plans to buy more! The most versatile pant, perfect for any trip!

I had Columbia hiking pants for a couple of years and wanted to add to the collection. I got tusk and stone green. Very functional for hiking and travel as they are very easy to compact while packing. Light material is comfortable and airy for hot, humid weather and they are quick drying. I used these for the first time in Costa Rica and it was one of the few materials that dried with the humid conditions. The color- coded zippers was a nice touch. Would definitely recommend.

I 'm so glad I did n't order these online, I opted to try on my normal size at a local retailer and they were crazy tight, like early 2000s skinny jeans. I then tried on 2 sizes up from my regular waist size and they fit nicely with a belt. If you work out and have thighs and glutes that are semi- built order a size or two up in the waist for mobility. As far as quality goes, I like the thickness and rigidity of the material, definitely a nice resistant fabric.
