Replacing an older TNF Goretex hard shell that held up for a very long time until the zippers failed. First impressions is that the number of pockets and their positioning is exactly the type of thing you did n't know you needed until you have it. Feels light and offers good maneuverability. Just roomy enough that layering with mid layer does n't feel bulky and stuffed. Although the armpit area is a bit snug, I have a Denali fleece so maybe the newer FutureFleece models will fit better. I have high hopes this jacket will hold up for years snowboarding here on our icy slopes. I 'm already liking the tech designed into this jacket.

But this coat is so light I found it also worked for sun protection. It packs into its own pocket and is very light weight. Like the other reviewers I was skeptical about how thin the material was. However, after wearing it snowboarding and Nordic skiing as a mid layer, it is awesome. The only downside I can tell is that the thumb holes are aligned in a way that sort of twists the sleeves. Also the seam line across the chest can be a little annoying to feel. Otherwise, warm and worth the upgrade.

Love this jacket. I was worried about the reports that it's `` short '' I 'm 5' 9 '' with a longer torso and short legs( 30- 32 inseam) and the jacket came to just below my belt line. It's definitely a jacket for car camping, walks around town, etc. This IS N'T a summit series jacket and is defiantly not built as a belay jacket which I think some get confused. For me, after hitting the slopes and a bit sweaty, I pull this out of my pack, fluff it up( it folds into its own pocket and packs very small) and put it on going in and out of the lodge before the sweat get cold and drops my body temp.
