One of the best mountaineering pants you can get- durable, breathable, and yet still warm at any altitude. These are my go- to pants for many PNW mountain treks( Mt Adams, Middle Sister, Mt. Hood, etc). The fit is fairly true- to- size, but I would have expected a bit more stretch in the waist. I 'm usually a 32 in most clothing, and M's feel a bit tight. I have had Burton covert and cargo pants for years because it was what I thought was good. These 686 pants are waaaayyyy better in every way. I always wear XL and that is what I ordered knowing the reviews all say they run big, which they do, but I wanted a baggy fit. I use impact shorts and knee/shin guards when I ride. The pants fit perfect over this and do not hinder my mobility like the other brand. The color is awesome and I stay warm and dry all day.

A great pant. It's hard to see in the photos but there are two large pockets on each thigh. The material is light and not crinkly. I 'm 6' 2 and the XL are the right length for me. Very happy with this purchase.
