I ’ ve used these three times and like them a lot. They replaced an old pair of waist high hunting waders that had started to leak. They ’ re comfortable to get around in, though a bit long. The cuffs and reinforced knees are great features. Pockets are handy but not bulky. Belt needs loops. Quality seems excellent. I only use them in winter so I hope they last a long time.

This is the first pair of waders I 've had to buy in 15 years an OH BOY what an upgrade. They 've seen a handful of trips since purchase. When it was 65F outside they did not feel hot; when it was 28F outside this last weekend with a base layer under they felt just warm enough standing in the middle of a river. I really like the external knee pads-- scrambling up and down slightly sketchy canyons to try and catch a trout, sharp rocks were just one less thing to worry about. The chest pockets are also well placed for easy access. I like that the guards that go over your boots do n't have a hook on them but instead fit tight enough onto the boot themselves to hold strong without me noticing. I have tried several different rain jackets while guiding in the raw Alaskan wilderness. This jacket definetly shines a million times brighter than all of the competition. I 've had this jacket for several years, use it as a steelhead guide on the Clearwater River. I absolutely love it. I bought a G3 jacket last year and while it's also a great jacket, I find myself still using my old Guide Classic everyday. I just like the way it feels for some reason, and it has been used! I 'm 6' 1 '', 215 and the XL fits great, but remember, this jacket is probably 5 years old. I 'm guessing I wear it at least 100 days a year.

These are the best waders on the planet. Mine are the previous version introduced in 2018. They fit like no other wader and they perform like no other wader. I have never had a leak. I had them customised with a different bootie size for a modest additional charge. My advice is don ’ t sit down on anything with spikes and don ’ t march through any bushes with spikes. That seems like common sense to me. Superb waders. I anticipate writing an equally positive review of my waders in several years time. Worth every penny( I live and fish in Scotland) or cent.

I have owned several pairs of Simms waders and love the durability, flexibility, and breathability of the G3's. They are surprisingly rugged and have held up bushwhacking through blackberries, salmonberries and devils club, which can shred lesser waders.

I have now had three pairs of Freestone waders, the last of which was the zip model and I do believe the convenience of the zipper justifies the cost differential. I probably spend around 75 days a year in waders with around half of these being hard use days consisting of climbing over rocks, busting brush, and hiking. At this level of use, the Freestones have lasted me 2- 3 seasons before they are at the end of their service life and I find this very acceptable for the price point. All of the waders ultimately failed in high abrasion zones in the seat/crotch/between thighs due to the waterproof membrane layer becoming worn and delaminating from the other layers and tearing. This may sound bad, but after hundreds of miles of abrasion and wet- dry cycles this is all one can expect from Toray fabric in a properly fitting and cared for wader. The 4 layer Toray is fairly puncture- resistant. Despite most of the thorns and brush contacting the 4 layer portion, most of the pinholes would be in the thinner upper portion. Overall, I was very pleased with the durability and features of the Freestone line for the price point, but have since upgraded to a Gore- Tex wader. If you expect to put as much wear and tear on a pair of waders as I do, then you may consider doing the same, but for causal anglers looking for a solid and feature rich offering you 've found the best value with the Freestones.

I needed a pair of non- felt- bottom wading boots for a New Zealand trip and the first pair I ordered were too large. I fish mostly salt, Gulf of Mexico down to the Keys. The pack is perfect for walking beaches and flats sight fishing. The color is perfect. Blends in with everything and does not conduct heat as much as my previous bag. I 100% reccomend this bag if you are a minimalist and fish in the extreme that require extra clothing and hydration. Holds my H2O rain gear, GPS two 6x4 fly boxes and extra reel, leaders and first aide. The only improvement I would make is to add an adjustment to the top of the shoulder strap so you can adjust exactly where the tool and fly patch go on your chest, but more importantly have the ability to dial in where the second wrap around strap comes around under your arm. I am a big guy and the straps are more than long enough, just wish I could get it to connect a couple inches low. Not a game changer, still comfortable, but it could be improve.

[ I 'm new to the fly fishing game, but these appear to be great waders. I have n't used them yet because I live in Arizona and we do n't have water here, but I plan to soon. The sizing is very true and I am glad the picture is not actual size because if it was they would barely fit on my finger. Everyone says that Simms are the trusted name in wading equipment and from what I see so far, that appears to be very much the case.

[ I set out on a mission to but American made products when I started my fly fishing lifestyle. I am here to tell you that Simms did not let me down with the G3 stocking foot waders. 100% American made quality from top to bottom. I can ’ t wait to get out on the water in these bad boys. I did try them on briefly to see how they fit and they are perfect. I am 6 ’ 2 ” 280 lbs and wear a size 12- 13 shoe. I purchased the XXL 12- 13 and have plenty of room for under layers.
