This shirt provides a lot of warmth but is super soft and comfortable. Great for under shirts on the baseball field or in the stands watching. Also used for outside work as it wicks moisture while providing warmth. I have not gone for a long run in this shirt as it may be too warm for that.

Like the other reviewers I was skeptical about how thin the material was. However, after wearing it snowboarding and Nordic skiing as a mid layer, it is awesome. The only downside I can tell is that the thumb holes are aligned in a way that sort of twists the sleeves. Also the seam line across the chest can be a little annoying to feel. Otherwise, warm and worth the upgrade.
5
Roberto
I purchased this Summit Series 1/4 zip to replace another one that ripped. This one is nice, but a little thicker than the previous version, which I still like better as it's lighter and more breathable. This one is fine for now.
5
Chris
Lighter but warmer than expected. Can tell it will be great for a mid layer out in the cold.
5
Brandon
Did n't really know what to expect since this was my first time buying `` FUTUREFLEECE ''. Assumed it was like any other fleece but I am glad I was wrong. The material is much more lightweight allowing for easier layering. The material is deceiving thin but is as warm all the other fleece jackets I 've owned. Definitely would recommend to friends, family or anyone looking for a lightweight fleece option.

[ I knew I was getting a good shirt because this is my second one. It fits snug enough to keep out the wind. It wicks and dries like an athletic shirt. Since it is 100% polyester, it is likely more durable than most. It keeps its shape and looks better than most.
5

[ Best value for your money as far as base layers go. You can spend 3x more on Smartwool or Icebreaker if you are looking for the best with a hefty price tag. Overall, this lives up to Carhartt ’s name

I purchase a lot of items during the year. This was probably my most anticipated purchase in months. And it completely delivered. The Pullover is a high quality garment that looks absolutely fantastic to wear.( The pictures do not come close to showing how good the garment looks) I 've owned and used many heating vests. Most vests make me look chunky because I 'd still have to cover up my arms with a jacket. So I thought I 'd give this company and Pullover a chance. It did not disappoint. Extremely warm. Extremely comfortable. Extremely satisfied.
5
Kevin
I llove my pullover I run mine on 1and that warm enough for me ann it does late a long time before you have to charge the battery.
5

Really nice pullover and very comfortable. You don ’ t really feel the battery weighing you down and it doesn ’ t feel odd in the pocket. It heats nicely and the hot mode gets hot fast. I ’ m glad I purchased.
5

This is a great 3/4 zip except they run a bit small. My hubby wears a large and it ’s too tight.
$159.99
Definitely worth having extra battery banks if you ’ re skiing all day or anything like that, also could use an extra hole in the battery pouch so you can route the cable to a pant pocket more
5
Renee
You don ’ t realize how much you need a heated base layer until you have one! It ’s been such a benefit to various aspects of my life. I wear it beneath my layers when spending time outdoors during winter in Wisconsin. But I ’ ve also worn it to work( in an office) during especially cold days. It fits true to size and is comfy. Somehow it seems to trap heat inside yet it ’s also breathable, I don ’ t sweat in it like I have with other base layers.
5
The Base Layer Shirt takes the bite out of any cold day! And the battery last for hours! Washed it in a cold wash then hung it to dry, easy peesey! Definitely worth it!

My favorite part is the thumb loopholes that keeps your thermal shirt in place when you layer over top of it with jackets or sweatshirts. ... Love the deep purple, top base

Shirts are well made and comfortable. But I preferred the ones from the previous season. Not crazy about elastic thumb bands, they dig into thumb webbing on your hand. They were much more comfortable with the slash cuff thumb hole

[ I am 5 foot and have a lot of trouble finding regular small sizes( other than petite) that fit well in the length. This long sleeve is just right
5
MehganM
Love the deep purple, top base layer! It fit really well and was long enough despite my 5' 11 '' height. If you are a C cup or bigger, you might want to size up, but for anything smaller it should work. It's odd that this was long enough but the matching pants are not as I 'm very proportional. In any event, I 'm grateful to have this top and I love the feminine color! Thank you!

[ I bought this about a month ago in black and Heather gray. I do miles of outdoor walking every day and need a base layer for walking in the winter in Vermont. This works well as a first layer a shirt and my down jacket. Washed well in cold water, hang on a hanger to dry.
5
sof2024
[ This is my go- to base layer for skiing( or any other outdoor cardio activity... if I ever did one). It's form fitting and has great mobility. I always use merino fabric as my base layer since it's' breathable and odor- resistant. This top kept me warm but not overheated in 30 degree weather with a down ski jacket. I prefer to minimize my layers so this top paired with my jacket is all I need in everything but extremely cold or warm skiing weather. It's also stylish and looks good with ski pants on its own for apres!

[ I love smartwool classic( midweight) baselayers. Live in Ohio where it's freezing winters and these tops work great as a baselayer or a stand alone top. They are wool so they breathe and it dries quickly if it gets damp( Unlike cotton). I have multiple smartwool tops& love them all.

[ I recently had the opportunity to try out the Smartwool Men's Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer 1/4 Zip, and I must say, it quickly became one of my favorite pieces of outdoor clothing. First and foremost, the quality of the merino wool used in this base layer is exceptional. The fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable against the skin, and it provides excellent insulation and warmth. I was impressed by how well it regulated my body temperature, keeping me warm in colder conditions and preventing overheating during more active pursuits. The natural moisture- wicking properties of merino wool also kept me dry and comfortable throughout my outdoor activities. The 1/4 zip design of this base layer is a great feature. It allows for easy ventilation and temperature control, especially during strenuous activities when you need to quickly release excess heat. The zipper is smooth and durable, and the collar provides added protection and warmth for the neck area. I found the fit of this base layer to be spot on. The slim yet stretchy design contours to the body without feeling restrictive, allowing for a full range of motion. The sleeves are the perfect length, and the shirt stays in place even during active movements. The overall construction feels solid, with flatlock seams that minimize chafing and enhance comfort. One of the standout features of this base layer is its odor resistance. Merino wool naturally has antimicrobial properties, meaning it inhibits the growth of odor- causing bacteria. Even after multiple days of use, the shirt remained fresh and odor- free, making it an excellent choice for multi- day hikes or backpacking trips when laundry facilities may be limited. Durability- wise, the Smartwool Men's Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer is impressive. The merino wool is robust and resistant to pilling, ensuring that the shirt maintains its quality and appearance even after repeated use and washes. I appreciated that it retained its shape and did n't stretch out over time. In terms of improvements, I would have liked to see a small zippered pocket or a media port for storing small essentials or routing headphone cables. This would have added convenience for those who like to listen to music or carry small items while on the move. Overall, the Smartwool Men's Classic Thermal Merino Base Layer 1/4 Zip exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort, performance, and durability. It is a versatile and reliable piece of outdoor clothing that provides excellent insulation, temperature regulation, and odor resistance. Whether you 're hiking, skiing, or engaging in any cold- weather activity, this base layer is a worthy investment that will keep you warm, dry, and comfortable throughout your adventures.

[ I ’ ve worn them all. But smartwool has it figured out. They are the best in the business for warmer base layers. I literally wear the crew neck with a 1/4 zip under my uniform. It provides supreme warmth, breathable base, and keeps you dry. And these are flat out durable.

[ I was somewhat uncertain about this since it seemed a bit thin but decided to give it a try since the weather is now dropping below freezing. I love this and wear it almost daily. I generally wear it like a light jacket rather than a baselayer and it is just enough to take the chill off. I also tried it as a baselayer while hiking. It was fantastic. I shed layers while going up to just this and was fine at about 40 degrees. I added a vest when coming back down and not working as hard. Even though I wear it like a jacket, its not going to block any wind so use it under something else if its windy. Overall, I really like this and would 100% buy it again.

[ I 've long been an unabashed devotee of all Smartwool products but their base layers, like the classic all- season merino long sleeve shirt, is truly the best money can buy. Since my days of living in the frigid mountains of northern Utah, I 've discovered the breathability of Smartwool's all- season merino long sleeve base layer makes it both the perfect shirt for keeping warm on winter's coldest days as well as ideal workout apparel. Smartwool base layers also make the best all- season pajamas imaginable. The all- season merino long sleeve shirt feels like a gentle hug when you slip it on, and remains comfortable until you 've completed your workout — whether it be a 3- mile hike in the frigid cold or a home gym weight training session. Smartwool has long been the gold standard for merino wool apparel. When you purchase your first Smartwool product, you 'll understand why.

Reviewing this from the POV of an end user& tech fabric geek. Love the materials of the MH AirMesh. Already have the hoody; just bought the crew. Agree w/ those who say it's very warm when at standstill or w/ a wind layer over top, yet while moving or with wind and no wind layer it's like being naked. To me that says the fabric is functioning precisely how a base layer shoulder. Only con is hypothetical: delicate fabric. I 've had no issues with snags, pilling, abrasion, etc. But I would n't be surprised were I to, given the softness of the fibers and the openness of the fabric they 're arranged into. Cut/fit are unremarkable w/ exception of the somewhat high neck hole and the different accent fabric used there. Packs tiny, resilient fibers bounce back into shape immediately. Most comparable to the Patagonia Cap Air wool base layer, minus the itchiness/roughness and the ultra premium price point. Also, like Polartec Power Stretch pro, but much lighter and more airy fabric, fwiw.

I recently purchased a red version of the AirMesh. I find it incredibly warm for its weight. Packs down to nothing which is very helpful.

Ruff Ruff
[ My daughter bought me this shirt last year for my 90th birthday. In hot weather or cool temps it seems to trap the air and is the perfect shirt. I have gotten 3 more in sundry colors for myself, one for my wife, and a crew neck airmesh for my adult son.

Evan
In the first image, it is very light and breathable, but the fibers inside seem to be easily lost, and there are some fibers in the hand after a little scratch. I am 167cm tall and my bust is 98cm, so I wear a size M which is very comfortable. I bought 2 at the same time, for me it should be good for sweating a lot without losing warmth. I tried wearing it the other way around and it was a different feeling, like a normal sweatshirt. A very special piece of clothing, worth trying. When washing, do n't turn it around, it's better to put it in a laundry bag

JP
Love this shirt. Wear it all the time and have already ordered another one- so comfortable. If they eventually make a short sleeved version I 'll buy that, too. It's a great base layer and good for cool/cold weather chillin'. Be aware that there is zero wind blocking- it's a mesh fabric- you must have a shell if you 're hiking/skiing/walking to mailbox. That said- I 've hiked in 15- 20F with wind and just this base and a heavy shell no problem. Note: It's very `` roomy ''. Great for me, but if you 're a bean pole you may be swimming in it- think about that when selecting sizes.

[ Merino is THE stuff for active comfort in the cold. The key is staying dry between rain, snow, and sweat... it's challenging. 100%( 95 and 88 also good) merino helps to achieve this goal. It's warm when you need it to be and water( all types) evaporates quickly to keep you from getting chilled from damp clothing. It's got to be part of a system though, and you have to use that system properly or you will get damp and cold. We just came back from five nights in our tent@ an avg. of 26F at night. After hiking all day in these and then, putting on fresh Smartwool tops and bottoms we were warm all night( we could have stayed in the same set if we had to). Medium weight is probably fine for most applications, but do be sure you 've got the right system for the conditions. In summer and spring it's less critical, but in winter( THE best time IMO)... having the wrong gear can make for a miserable experience... and a dangerous one. Smartwool has the added benefit of being able to go in the dryer at home... not all merino products can. That's my take.

[ When it comes to staying warm during the winter, base layers are KEY! My old Smartwool long- sleeve lasted me years of use. [ The Merino Tech Lite II Short Sleeve T- Shirt is hands down one of the best t- shirts I 've owned. It's lightweight, soft, and super versatile, making it perfect for everything from hiking to casual wear. Why I Love It: ✔ Soft& Comfortable- No itch, just smooth merino that feels great against the skin. ✔ Breathable& Moisture- Wicking- Stays cool in warm weather and dries quickly. ✔ Odor- Resistant- Worn it multiple times between washes, and it still smells fresh. ✔ Great Fit& Versatility- Works well as a standalone tee or a base layer. A Couple of Considerations: ⚠ Fabric is lightweight, so be mindful of snags. ⚠ A bit pricey, but the quality and durability make it worth it. If you 're looking for a high- quality merino t- shirt that's comfortable, breathable, and perfect for any occasion, this one's a winner. I 'll definitely be buying more!

Sunny paddling
I purchased the shirt for a 3 1/2 week kayak, snorkeling, and walking trip to Palau in the eastern Pacific, and used it about every other day. This is a well designed shirt that is comfortably soft and blocks the sun both when dry and wet. I felt it was comfortable in hot and humid weather. The hood stays in place in the wind and while snorkeling. The sleeve gauntlets will cover the back of your hand when paddling- important in intense sun. Unlike the other sun shirt I had, this shirt does not stretch out of shape when wet, and it will dry overnight if you hang it up.

I purchased this top( and the leggings together as a set). Altogether, it is one of the better base layer fits I ’ ve had the chance to try out in the elements. Overall the top is probably my favorite piece, not only because of the high quality materials used- but because of the sleeve length. As a tall/lanky girly, some genuine long sleeves are always greatly appreciated. The style is also a great plus, the outfit goes with pretty well everything( purchased in black for this reason). The outfit looks great together, but they can also be interchanged with other pieces and they still look awesome all while keeping you warm:)
