If you 're need is to do delicate footwork in steep or awkward terrain these are not the boots for you. But, if you 're spending a lot of time working outside in Wyoming in winter in snow, on ice, and in the very special kind of mud we have up here, they are stellar. I had a little break in period to soften up the ankles a little. They are warm, without heavy socks, even in sub- zero° F temps, comfy, 100% waterproof, and easy to clean. Sizing winter boots has been quite challenging. I wear a 10. 5 medium width athletic shoe/ 44. 5 cycling shoe. I tried many brands and sizes including LL Bean, KEEN, Columbia, Muck, and a few more. Boots like this can feel stiff so I prefer thicker wool socks for added cushion and insulation. An 11. 5 was snug but not too tight( like the 11) and gave me enough wiggle room in the toe box. When I finally got outdoors with them, I found them warm and comfortable walking around for more than two hours through slush and snow on trails and streets. They are quick to slip on and lace up, quick to unlace and slip off. I am very satisfied with them.

Very well designed. Fit is a little narrow but should stretch some with wear. So far they have been great production against the cold and rain, but have n't had the chance to try them out in the snow as the big storm went south of us in Louisiana.

[ I bought these boots after seeing Wirecutter list them as best winter boots... They feel solidly built, yet cushy inside. I have used them a few times and they shed snow and water, and keep my feet pretty warm. The `` speedlacing system '' is a nice perk-- it means( I think) that there is an extra tab that holds the lace on the lower part of the boot tightly, so you can tighten the lower half and it will stay tight while you adjust and tie the upper half.

I bought these boots due to online reviews, and they were on sale, making it a double bonus. They have a thick inner liner that keeps your feet warm but are very snug! I would have gone with the next size up if I had known. Still breaking them in, so as far as durability, I will find out. My last pair, Sorel, held up for almost 30 years so I 'm hoping these will be my last snow boot purchase! So far they are decent. I would recommend they switch to quick lace hooks, rather than the eyelets.

I found these while searching for a pair of long lasting waterproof snow proof winter boots. I have to say I ’ m very picky about boots, so when I got these, I was a little disappointed to see they didn ’ t have a side zipper, but that ’s my fault for not reading thoroughly. The description says leather and suede upper, but that ’s only the stripe, the actual majority of the boot is a soft canvas, which isn ’ t what I was looking for. I wasn ’ t a huge fan of the shape of them, as they seem to accentuate the widest point of my calf, but overall they ’ re very nice and they fit well when I tried them on. They are thick inside so they might feel tight with a thick sock, but they were immediately super warm so a thick sock doesn ’ t seem really necessary. I haven ’ t worn them in snow or water, so I can ’ t speak to that. I most likely will exchange these for a pair of Merrell tall lace Polar boots that I had wanted but were out of stock.

Finally got my boots delivered today after a long shipping delay. My review is two fold: Boot quality: 5 stars. Seems super warm, and well constructed. Can ’ t wait to get these out in the snow and give them a real test, but I fully expect them to be a quality boot. Dick ’s quality control: the boots arrived in a box that had been torn and taped back together. Not a big deal, but…. The boot liners had a bunch of animal fur stuck in them, and all over the outside soles. Clearly someone had bought this exact pair before, tried them on, possibly used them, and decided to return them for whatever reason. It ’s very obvious that I didn ’ t get a “ new ” product. I sometimes buy previously used items, but only when I know that I ’ m buying used and can inspect the product first, and usually at a discount. I was fully expecting ” new ” here as It wasn ’ t indicated anywhere that I was getting a used or returned product and I didn ’ t get that. So 2 stars to Dick ’s for not being up front on the condition of what they ’ re selling, or checking the condition of the returns they ’ re reselling. I ’ m not disappointed in the product, hence why I ’ m actually leaving 5 stars, just in Dick ’s quality control and product clarity. This isn ’ t a deal breaker this time… I ’ m still keeping the boots, but now I have to spend time de- fur- ing them first.

Called office and they are quickly addressing the problem. These shoes buckle on secure and feel great striding in fields, going up and down gradual inclines. The boot in binding action feels natural, not like some systems that make you relearn how to walk. Looking forward to trying in real deep snow to learn how flotation compares to traditional Ojibwa and Bearpaw snowshoe styles.

[ If you want a solid and durable hiking shoe, this is the shoe for you. Very comfortable on my feet right out of the box. I really like the looks. It is fairly stiff( good support) and the rubber is substantial and hard. It is n't super light or the most cushioned shoe. Definitely not for trail running of any kind. There are better shoes for light, fast, and cushiony( see Salomon Speedcross). I wanted these for short hikes on rough terrain or as a simple walkaround shoe or working in the yard. If you do n't want full leather or something similar but a little lighter and breathable check out the Oboz Firebrand.

I use them daily for work and they wear forever, usually wear them for two years and then they become my after work around the house and yard shoe for another two years. They are comfortable, fit very well and wear very well. I climb communications towers and though I ’ m not usually on the tower all day I wear these same shoes while doing 2- 4 hrs of work on the tower. They support my feet very well!
