I paired the waders with the salt boots for striper fishing and so far I am completely satisfied with the overall fit and feel while in them. I have now had three pairs of Freestone waders, the last of which was the zip model and I do believe the convenience of the zipper justifies the cost differential. I probably spend around 75 days a year in waders with around half of these being hard use days consisting of climbing over rocks, busting brush, and hiking. At this level of use, the Freestones have lasted me 2- 3 seasons before they are at the end of their service life and I find this very acceptable for the price point. All of the waders ultimately failed in high abrasion zones in the seat/crotch/between thighs due to the waterproof membrane layer becoming worn and delaminating from the other layers and tearing. This may sound bad, but after hundreds of miles of abrasion and wet- dry cycles this is all one can expect from Toray fabric in a properly fitting and cared for wader. The 4 layer Toray is fairly puncture- resistant. Despite most of the thorns and brush contacting the 4 layer portion, most of the pinholes would be in the thinner upper portion. Overall, I was very pleased with the durability and features of the Freestone line for the price point, but have since upgraded to a Gore- Tex wader. If you expect to put as much wear and tear on a pair of waders as I do, then you may consider doing the same, but for causal anglers looking for a solid and feature rich offering you 've found the best value with the Freestones.

First pair of breathable waders, was hesitate buying these as I had n't heard of Frogg Togg. Ive had other brand name waders but Im extremely satisfied with these, very durable. I had to hike through some rugged territory to get to a favourite location, figured i done them in on day one. I certainly hope they 're not discontinued( it almost seems that way when I read the Frogg Toggs lineup, ever since the introduction of the Hellbenders anyway) because I want to recommend them to numerous friends. They 're built so much better than the economy waders I 've been using( which after a season or so developed leaks I could n't find, and no amount of shoe goo would keep me from having a legful of water and two soggy socks, every trip). This is the first pair of waders I 've had to buy in 15 years an OH BOY what an upgrade. They 've seen a handful of trips since purchase. When it was 65F outside they did not feel hot; when it was 28F outside this last weekend with a base layer under they felt just warm enough standing in the middle of a river. I really like the external knee pads-- scrambling up and down slightly sketchy canyons to try and catch a trout, sharp rocks were just one less thing to worry about. The chest pockets are also well placed for easy access. I like that the guards that go over your boots do n't have a hook on them but instead fit tight enough onto the boot themselves to hold strong without me noticing. When comparison shopping I like to compare apples to apples. It blows my mind that other companies are selling Chinese waders for more money than Made in the USA waders. I picked these up on sale as a spare for when I fish clients without waders. These waders are made by Americans in America. They ’ re a deal at twice the price.

You just can not go wrong with these waders. The are built tough but flexible enough to allow all of the movement that you would expect for the job they have to do. I would challenge you to find high end Gore- Tex waders at this price and this quality. These simply can not be matched they are awesome in every way. I will surely be buying a second pair for a back up. Great job on these Simms!

I have tried several different rain jackets while guiding in the raw Alaskan wilderness. This jacket definetly shines a million times brighter than all of the competition. I actually wore a different jacket out guiding today, to test out a new jacket from a Simms competitor, I was soaked to the bone when I was done with 9 hours in the pouring rain and 30 mph winds all day. I definetly missed my Simms jacket that was back at camp. I will never wear another jacket while guiding.

You can wear it as a raincoat, and the food is adjustable. The sleeves are long, adding extra protection from heavy wind and sun lights. The color suits fishing, especially nymph fishing, protecting the rod hand. There are 5 pockets for iPhone, sunglasses, and an extra close. [ I 'm new to the fly fishing game, but these appear to be great waders. I have n't used them yet because I live in Arizona and we do n't have water here, but I plan to soon. The sizing is very true and I am glad the picture is not actual size because if it was they would barely fit on my finger. Everyone says that Simms are the trusted name in wading equipment and from what I see so far, that appears to be very much the case.

[ I set out on a mission to but American made products when I started my fly fishing lifestyle. I am here to tell you that Simms did not let me down with the G3 stocking foot waders. 100% American made quality from top to bottom. I can ’ t wait to get out on the water in these bad boys. I did try them on briefly to see how they fit and they are perfect. I am 6 ’ 2 ” 280 lbs and wear a size 12- 13 shoe. I purchased the XXL 12- 13 and have plenty of room for under layers.
