These trousers were the reason for me to fall in love with the Fjällräven brand. I 've used them extensively while camping, tenting, hiking and- yes- winter mountaineering. I absolutely love the design, materials and functionality. Those were my first pair of hiking pants with pre- bent knees and I felt the difference in comfort and freedom of movement. In hot summer days, they might feel a bit heavy, so the ventilations are essential to keep you cool. I can appreciate the front pockets as well, as they have enough depth and are easy to reach on the go. My pair is ageing quite well and has no issues with the durability even after extensive use and washing cycles- the color on the G- 1000 does start to fade a bit, but it looks even cooler that way. Overall these are one of my favorite trousers. For the winter mountain, they are a bit baggy and may get in the way of your crampons, so I switched to a pair of Bergtagen Stretch for that. Still, they can do the job and will not let you down. For all other seasons, they are unbeatable.

The transit pants are a step- up in fashion compared to the standard Ferrosi pants. Granted I 'm not a fashion master as my wife reminds me but these are versatile enough to wear climbing or to work. They do n't have the zipper thigh pocket but as I mentioned this gives them a slightly more formal look and fit. Obviously it goes without saying that they are comfortable, stretchy and lightweight like the entire Ferrosi line. I am 5' 6 '' and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. I usually wear a 34 US, but they were a bit snug so I went up to a size 36 US and immediately loved them. I ’ ve been wearing these pants for both work and play for the last 3 years. Phenomenal in almost every way. Hard wearing, durable, and stylish. I do wish they were a bit thicker( like this version from years ago), but they are thick enough for construction work. They happen to be just right for backpacking in the Winds of Wyoming- warm days, cold nights. As to the comments from others about being too tight, order a larger size… Pockets are adequate for what I put in them but they are not giant cargo pockets. No offense, but size up. I ’ m specifically speaking to my thiqq boys that make noise in the gym. We love leg day, we do it because it allows us to hike for longer. We do it for the glutes. Trust me when I say it ’s not you it ’s them. Size up and thank me later. Aside from the sizing I love these and I personally think they are a great investment if you want to take your hiking attire to the next level. Ventilation isn ’ t the cure for everything and everyone sweats differently. The ventilation here definitely cured my souther sweat factory. I used these on a hike and my back was getting sweaty so on way back I ventilated and holy cow what a difference. You sacrifice a pocket and some thigh space by having the zipper to ventilate but this thiqq boy doesn ’ t like to chafe and am I happy I found these. I still give these a 5 star regardless of the size up. I do not like to have a sweaty bottom or back and this did exactly what I needed. Take the time and invest in gear that will last longer, haste makes chafe.

Initial observations. These pants are true to size. They fit great with a belt. I was worried about the boot hook and vent zipper. The boot hook is tucked away so that it is protected from accidently catching. The zipper pulls on the vents tucks away when open or closed.

Hood, etc). The fit is fairly true- to- size, but I would have expected a bit more stretch in the waist. I 'm usually a 32 in most clothing, and M's feel a bit tight. There's plenty of stretch in the legs which makes for easily climbing, but the waist can definitely be a bit annoying. Took these on a trip around the Colorado four pass loop. As is typical, we got caught in an afternoon storm at 10, 000 feet and suited up. Pants kept us dry from the rain and wete sufficiently breathable for 2 hours of rainy hiking. They are definitely pants to put on BEFORE it rains because the ankle zips do n't accommodate footwear too well. But I knew that going in. Zippers are fail points for waters so we elected to minimize the water ingress points. Tl; dr kept us dry. Breathed well for intense, medium duration active wear

I understand there `` minimalist '' meant for backpacking but would of like to have a bit more leg room and perhaps a wider hip so you can put them over pants. I 've had several pairs of rain pants from other manufacturers over the years and these are the best so far. They do n't restrict my leg movements, do n't leak, and are easy to get on and off. The rise is high, so you have good overlap with your top and the waist drawstring seems sturdy enough, although I pair them with suspenders also. Rain and wet brush are expected if you are outside much of the year here in the PNW, so you need some good rain pants.

My issue is n't with the pants which are great, BUT with the sizing chart- I am 6' 3 '' and 36 '' waist and a large size works for me but I have an 34 '' inseam and the chart recommendation is to get a tall size however I think regular would have been much better. The pant legs bunch up at the bottom when I have mid waterproof hiking shoes on. The OR pro deal is great but unfortunately they do n't allow exchanges or returns. These are the perfect pants. I 've worn mine daily for more than a year and they are still in good shape. Just bought another pair. They are deceptively light in weight, but durable. I have not had any problems with the buttons or zipper. The knife pocket works perfectly with my SAK on a tether. The back pocket flaps are good for keeping wallet secure. Please, please do n't `` improve '' the design!!!

Please never stop making these pants. I own 4 pair and they 're the only pants I wear and I will wear them forever so long as you keep making them. My only point of feedback is to use better quality buttons. I have broken 3 buttons( in various places; front button, inside button at the front, back pocket button). I just sewed a new button on my pants today. Still, these pants get 5 stars. The fit is just perfect. And they 're soooooo comfortable. These can be dressed up or down. I wear them with Red Wing boots and a flannel and sometimes with a sportcoat and Alden's. These pants just rock.

Great pants, do what they claim too nothing more nothing less. I wear them for hunting, and have been for the last two years in all types of weather and climate. They still look the same as the day i got them. Knife pocket works well didnt think id use it but i do almost every hunt. The fabric is by no means made for heavy brush but holds up very well even with thorns while going through thick bush/brush. If your looking for a great well made sturdy pant that you can hunt in and not worry about them getting torn then look no further. Finish off with a mild temperature iron to remove the folds and they have that ‘ brand new ’ appearance. I do not quite understand the concern of the other reviewer. Don ’ t be put off. Because I also have a 30 ” inseam, however find these rain pants to be no issue whatsoever as they feature a draw cord adjustment at the bottom. Therefore they can be cinched tightly around the ankle, making them a perfect fit. In terms of performance, they are excellent. I got a size XS and have a 29 ” waist, and thanks to the adjustment options, they can be worn either over the top of my thick vidda pros, or a smaller base layer. They breathe really well, and keep the rain out, and you nice and warm. These will last a lifetime. If you only want one pair of rain pants, these are hard to beat.

[ Bought the Eco Shell to use over the standard Keb trousers in wet and/or snowy conditions. Plenty of room over the trousers for layering purposes. Nice high waist and tapered leg for full coverage in lousy weather. Normally wear a Keb/Vidda Pro in size S and the Evo Shell are perfect with the same sizing. [ Fit: I 'm 6' 2 '', 165lbs. I usually wear a 32 '' x34 '' pant. I bought a size Medium in the Keb Eco Shell Trouser, and they fit like a 34 '' x34 '' pant. The velcro adjustment at the waist, and the included belt, allow for a comfortable fit( FYI: there are two sets of belt loops:( 1) narrow loops for the supplied belt; and( 2) loops that overlay the first set and accommodate a standard width belt). Performance: I 've worn these on several day hikes in varying winter conditions throughout the Cascades in temps from the 20s to the low 50s. They 're comfortable, very breathable, have excellent mobility when negotiating steep terrain, and kept me warm and completely dry during soaking rains, downpours, and snow. The drawstring at the end of the legs secure the pant over my boots and kept out water, snow and mud so well that I have n't donned my leg gaiters since buying these shell pants. They 've held up well to underbrush, but the shell fabric showed abrasion and slight tearing around the knee when I took a spill on scree. While the Cordura inner legs are burly, I would be hesitant to use these shell pants for any activity other than hiking, backpacking, or for crampon use during snow/ice walking.

I had a pair of Columbia ski pants that unfortunately ripped during a fall due to the rigid material. I have no worries about these. They stretch just like sweat pants but are waterproof and super warm. I 've now been using them for over a year and they 're just as good as the day I got them. I can wear these without long underwear when its in the 20s and 10s and I 'm just fine. They have a ton of pockets and some vents too. Absolutely amazing ski pants, Im never buying non- stretch ski pants again.

[ This pants has serve me through 15+ snowboarding trips within 3 months. It held up until the 9th trip when a small tear suddenly appear, it was probably from me trying to get the snowboards off the top carrier. Even with the tear it kept me warm enough with 40g it insulation, it would have been nice to get 60 or 100g to keep you warm enough without adding any layers. This was the only boots that has short as an option and has a wide enough pants opening to cover my boots, which isn ’ t too bulky. The color is amazing( mountain red) in person next to the snow. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great snow pants!

The Cushmans are very warm and comfortable, but what sets these apart from other ski pants is how short they are in the inseam for short people. Most `` short '' inseams are 29- 30 and these are more like 27- 28 inches. No one else I know makes pants that short for us shorter people. Great job, Columbia!! Wish you all would come out with some more colors. How about an Azul Blue? Pockets are plentiful( but a little small) yet still has a keyring for your keys to attach to so you hopefully wo n't lose them on the hill. Best ski pants I 've ever owned.

[ It ’s so great that Columbia offers a short inseam pant. My son needed a pant that was adjustable to be comfortable but not too long. It ’s perfect. I only wish it was a little looser In the hip and thigh.

it would be perfect if it ran a bit larger would appreciate more room as I 'm a taller guy 6' 3 and with a linebacker build it fits snuggly in a few on my quads and thighs but overall great pants

I ordered the pants and jacket to replace some old faithful ones that have been reliable for years. I 've always been happy with the Helium line for backpacking. Although I would n't call them super durable thats not really what they are meant for. I use them as the lightweight layer to keep rain off on the occasional rain during backpacking trips or light rain.

Great lightweight rain paints- do what they are intended to do. And a great warranty, as my seams split after 4 years of good usage, and OR completely warrantied them
