I 'm on a quest to see all of our National Parks and these were my first purchase. So far we have hiked in Shenandoah( rocky, damp, sometimes slippery) and in Death Valley( HOT! Dry! gravelly, uneven terrain) and these boots have been perfect in both. We got wet in Shenandoah but my feet stayed dry. We got sun- baked in Death Valley and my feet stayed blister- free. I got the tan leather color which I love. originally went half size bigger like website suggested but it was to big so I went with my true size a 10. I took these on my rafting trip down the GRAND CANYON. I brought them for the side hikes from the river. Which are usually washes with some water crossings. These shoes did so well! They have incredible traction for climbing over big rocks in dry washes, or on slick ledges. The traction is incredible! They were comfortable right off the go and my custom orthotics fit in then since they have a removable foot bed. I loved these boots on the trip! Completely waterproof over the foot but if water gets up to the mid part where the laces are water does come in. I am going to look for a goretex hiking gater for that.

I ’ ve been wearing Merrill shoes since I was in the Army. I got this particular model in 2010 and it felt like I was Spider- Man humping up and down the Hindu Kush. I also recommend the chameleons! So now that it ’s been ten years I picked up going for long walks and was wearing tennis shoes. I went back to these and love them! The only issue is my left foot toe bed was rubbing but it ’s an uncommon issue and only happened AFTER my eight miles during a cool down mile. I previously did ten miles in these and had no issue! No limping, no true pain beyond having walked ten/eight miles, no blisters. I ’ m happy the quality is still top notch since 2010.

I wore them in some slush/ice and had no issues. I think they ’ re really attractive. Was worried that the white sole would stain easily and look junky, but so far it ’s been fine. Haven ’ t been in mud yet though. I gave the comfort 4 stars because there ’s a spot where the upper was rubbing when I was breaking them in. It ’s gotten better and I imagine it will go away once they ’ re fully broken in. I ’ m also not used to having that much ankle coverage, so it could be that that ’s affecting me.

[ I recently bought a pair of Danner Hiking boots and liked them so much I wanted this brand in a shoe. They are comfortable, cool looking( I bought the red) and work great as a sneaker or trail shoe. I usually wear a perfect European size 41 and the size 10 fits accordingly.

[ These are great hiking shoes by Danner. Good arch support and lots of room in the toe area. I walk 25 miles a week in the hills on pavement. I 've had issues with my feet in the past, but not in these shoes. My feet feel great after wearing all day. I love them so much, I bought another pair. I wear an 8. 5 in a shoe, but wear a 9 in these shoes as with most athletic shoes.

[ Some reviewers mentioned these fit snuggly, so I was cautious because I do have quite wide feet. I 'm glad I took the risk because though I do find it helps to make use of a shoe horn to ease putting them on, with thin running socks they fit just right! Snug but not too tight. I have arthritic knees, and these have the perfect combination of cushion and stability for walking on a variety of terrain, from light hiking trails to gravel to sidewalk. I had wished for different color options, but when they arrived I found the salmon color quite striking, so I 'm quite pleased with that in the end too.

[ Having spent many dollars on shoes to use for short to moderate hikes I am thrilled to have discovered the Danner brand and this particular shoe. I tried other brands, Merrell, Keen, Columbia, and all either hurt or gave me blisters so I continued to go back to a comfortable pair of 10 yr old Skechers which had many miles on them. The Danner Women's Trail 2650 shoes are perfect right out of the box, so comfortable, no break in needed, and I will be ordering the waterproof version as well.

The lighting guy
I bought these boots three years ago to use exclusively for hiking. The break- in was painful but quick. Once broken in they feel like slippers. So much so that I wear them everyday as my work boots. I install landscape lighting daily and I ’ m not kind to these boots. Three years later they are still performing better than any boot I ’ ve ever purchased. The soles are almost slicks but every morning I put these slippers on and go to work.
