Replacing an older TNF Goretex hard shell that held up for a very long time until the zippers failed. First impressions is that the number of pockets and their positioning is exactly the type of thing you did n't know you needed until you have it. Feels light and offers good maneuverability. I ’ ve been using this jacket for the past 8 months and it ’s been extremely reliable in a variety of different conditions. Walking in sub zero temps, I found I was constantly undoing or taking off layers when using an insulated jacket, becoming sweaty and uncomfortable, but winter walking in the Skogsko I found it to be breathable and pleasant keeping me at a constant temperature. Once you stop, throwing on an insulated layer or hard shell will take care of the cooling down issue. Because of the fit( medium) and it ’s stylish cut, you get only compliments when out and about, but the quality if it ’s manufacture and rock solid construction means it ’s practically bulletproof and can be used in all sorts of work/outdoor scenarios. I ’ ve been using it more and more on the farm and for forestry work, as you can brush up and rub against tough bark or metal fencing or briars without so much as a scratch on the material, especially if it ’s been waxed a couple of times, and once it ’s waxed it becomes very tough and durable with a patina ’ d look which adds to its appeal. Worn under my Hoggs waterproof, this jacket becomes a completely wind proof, waterproof system- it can be blowing 60 mph and you just will not feel a thing- absolutely no warmth escaping from anywhere. I must mention that the construction, build, stitching and overall quality seems to be superior to the insulated version of this jacket, so I ’ d recommend buying a size larger and layering accordingly for winter, as this jacket just gets better with age. Out of all my outdoor clothing purchases in the last two years this has been my favourite, most useful, and will continue to provide reliable functionality for years to come.

The oversized hood goes over my helmet and keeps me very cozy. Easily the best jacket I ’ ve invested in. I had second thoughts at first about the jacket because I was concerend about the slightly snug fit. I 'm about 185lbs and 6 ft tall with the medium size being snug but not uncomfortable at all. I just wondered about wearing layers witht he jacket. The arm length is perfect for me and the large size would be too long in the arms. I almost throught to return it to other options but realized this size is really perfect as is after wearing it on a few outings. Very light weight. Packing compressed it a lot and it took a couple days for it to expand out. My first time wearing it was in 30 degrees and it kept me very warm. I am 5' 6 '' and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. Material and stitching are top notch and the jacket is very comfortable to wear. I HATE the feeling of gortex and this has more of silky feel inside and out, which is perfect. For a general use winter jacket this is perfect.

I bought is jacket to replace my old Gore- Tex Foray that started to delaminate after 7 years of use. Lets see how well this AscentShell Dry hold up over the years. So far this is a great 3- in- 1 jacket but I 'm really disappointed that it lacks the TorsoFlo Venting all the other Foray versions have. TorsoFlo Venting, or at least some basic armpit vents, really makes a difference when you need to vent some heat build up or want to use the shell as a rain jacket year round. I like that it comes as a 3- in- 1. This is easier to put on and take off than the Foray and Shadow combo this jacket is replacing. Being able to combine the shell and insulation layer when it gets cold is much more convenient than dealing with 2 separate jackets. I like that it is longer than the other Foray versions The longer Parka style provides better rain and snow protection than the shorter Jacket style. The over all look and color make this great to wear in any setting like work, camping, shopping, or anywhere else. I really like the Ranger Green color over the Hops Green of my Foray that this is replacing. I hope they make a version 2 with TorsoFlo Venting and a stuff sack for the insulation layer.

[ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. What I most like about this jacket is that it fits me well, yet is roomy enough to layer up for those colder days on the mountain. I returned a more expensive jacket from a competitor because it was a snug, athletic fit and didn ’ t leave enough room for layering. Personally, I don ’ t care about the ability to convert the jacket to a shell, and I would have preferred deep glove pockets inside the jacket instead. Purchased for skiing in the northeast, so needed warmth and flexibility. I believe I found my next favorite jacket. The 3- in- 1 is nice and sized well at XL for a guy who can fit into a L but finds that too tight in the shoulders( after all, you have to keep your arms forward with poles). Great wind protection and comfortable feel, which means room for layering up on cold ski days(< 10 dF). I have not separated the liner yet, so do not have any input on the pieces individually. The Gore- Tex shell is really nice and the line coat is warm in the set. I would recommend it as a warm and relaxed coat for the piste.

I am a bike packer and gravel rider. I underestimated how good this fleece would be on the bike. It breathes super well but is warm on the downhills. Conversely it is stylish at work. The poly insulation is just thick enough without being bulky, and plenty warm. I run hot, so this is great for me. I live in a wet climate, so water resistance is important. When I received this, the first test was to run water over my sleeve in the sink. The water ran right off. Recently had a scrap with a rose branch and the tough shoulder material was unaffected. Everything about the jacket is rugged and high quality. The stitching and was perfect and the large tooth YKK zippers were smooth with no snags. Fit is good but on the slimmer side( in a good way). You can layer a sweatshirt and puff vest but that ’s about it. If you need more, size up. Unfortunately I had to return the jacket due to the antler color being very pink. No other colors were available in my size so I had to go with the thermograph jacket, which is also very good.

This jacket looks great on the mountain and off. Kept dry when out for several hours in rain, but wetted out halfway through a deep powder day. Hood works well with a helmet, but hood could be a bit bigger. The hand- warmer inner cuffs are good, but can wick up water during heavy rain. Pockets are good placement and size and insulated phone pocket is a definite plus! I love that various features in the jacket( such as the `` Glove Link '' are in a contrasting colour and labelled so that you do n't have to guess their uses. Note that the jacket is a lined shell, meaning that it provides more warmth than some other shells.

Love this jacket. I was worried about the reports that it's `` short '' I 'm 5' 9 '' with a longer torso and short legs( 30- 32 inseam) and the jacket came to just below my belt line. It's definitely a jacket for car camping, walks around town, etc. This IS N'T a summit series jacket and is defiantly not built as a belay jacket which I think some get confused. For me, after hitting the slopes and a bit sweaty, I pull this out of my pack, fluff it up( it folds into its own pocket and packs very small) and put it on going in and out of the lodge before the sweat get cold and drops my body temp.

used this at work during- 30°f temps with layers and kept me plenty warm. the thicker material on the shoulders protected the jacked from a heavy weighted survey vest and the jacket has held up very well for extended periods outside in the woods, may be a bit warm for vigorous activity but perfect for normal use in cold temps.

It's been a great coat so far. Purchased it with the hope of using it for backpack hunting but it's a little shiny for that. It is very warm and the weight is good for packing. As I break it in it's more likely I 'll use it for hunting as its loosing its sheen( really just because its dirty but I 'm good with that). I 'm happy with the purchase and like this brand based on other products as well.
