I ’ m about 41- 42 ” hips, and the pants definitely fit on the bigger side: adjustable tabs as tight as they get, and still easily go over jeans or multiple layers with plenty extra room. I learned very quickly that the Sorel Caribou boot was the Best way to keep feet dry and relatively warm in the Great white Tundra of the North East states. I bought these to replace an old pair that was 10 years old, and these are excellent. I have used them to walk on local trails and sidewalks in slippery wintery conditions- 4 plus miles at a time. One thing you should consider with these is the great feature that has the strap over the top that keeps them well in place- the basic Yaktrax do n't have that. I wear with hiking shoes/boots and did size one up to cover the type of shoe sole.
