For full disclosure I 'm a BD ambassador, but even if I was n't I would still climb in this crampon, and recommend it to everyone I can because I want to see it stay in the line! Several years ago, before the Snaggletooth existed, I spent a winter climbing with a different crampon on each foot to get a true objective feel for what worked best.( Most people do n't take the time, or have the luxury, for this level of gear `` nerdiness, '' and therefore generally have relatively subjective opinions about gear in my opinion.) What I discovered during this experimentation was that the small amount of flex in a horizontal point crampon, versus a nearly rigid crampon, created less fatigue and made for far less foot slips, than crampons with rigid vertical points. This is especially true on some of the trickiest terrain you encounter while alpine climbing, snow covered rock. At the time the only problem with using a horizontal crampon like the Sabertooth with dual points meant that it was sometimes hard to pivot on the smallest footholds, or use tiny seams. The Snaggletooth eliminated that problem. I 've used this crampon everywhere from Alaska, to Scotland, to Peru, and it is far and away my favorite. Sure, if I 'm going climbing at a steep dry tooling crag like Vail I will still use a Stinger to be able to toe into small footholds on steep terrain, and utilize divots created by traffic, but for the vast majority of the climbing I do, the Snaggletooth is the best crampon on the market.

I live in the Midwest. I ’ m not climbing alpine trails, or scaling ice walls. Why did I buy these then, you ask? Well, simple… we got 3 feet of snow that then blew around the next day and I had 4- 5 feet sitting on my roof that needed to come off. I finally had an excuse to buy a set of good crampons, that excuse being I need to get on the roof to remove the snow( removal from the ground is for lazy people). To take on the pitch of my roof I settled on the Sabretooth clip style. They fit perfectly on my Merrell thermo overlook boots and the back stays secure even with the boots mild heel welt that isn ’ t a real heel welt but rather a small grove. I was able to walk around the packed snow on my roof and shove it off. Never slipped, never felt unstable, never felt at risk of going over. They ’ re also going to be a nice addition to my pack for hunting season here just in case as well as my plans to go to Alaska to hunt.

I bought these to replace an old pair that was 10 years old, and these are excellent. I have used them to walk on local trails and sidewalks in slippery wintery conditions- 4 plus miles at a time. One thing you should consider with these is the great feature that has the strap over the top that keeps them well in place- the basic Yaktrax do n't have that. I wear with hiking shoes/boots and did size one up to cover the type of shoe sole.

I have a 16 year old daughter who pitches for her softball team and when I tell you she is picky about her cleats, I mean she is PICKY. She loves these mizuno cleats and for the price, I love them too! She tends to wear her cleats out very fast because she pitches. She drags her foot and usually tears the toe apart in just a couple games. These cleats have held up very well after several games. I have used these as my racing spikes in Cross Country for 2 seasons, and they have worked phenomenally. They are very comfortable for spikes. I tried on many other pairs, but all of them felt uncomfortable. But when I tried these, they just worked. They are a very reliable pair of shoes. So reliable, in fact, that I take out the spike pins so that I can run pavement races in them. Plus, my family can easily find me in a race because of my pink shoes. Been wearing this brand for 10+ years... I love it for running, and this shoe is very similar to styles I 've purchased before. It does run narrow and I have thinner feet, so it's a close fit( maybe too narrow for wider feet) but for running that's what I want. Personally, I do n't care for the super bright colors and wish there were more neutral or dark options( a few years ago they had a black shoe with blush accents and that was my FAVE), but the blue and fuchsia is n't overly bright so that's the one I got. Putting these shoes on is like sliding into a warm bath. Spend the extra money for the leather it's definitely worth it. My last pair of Footjoys lasted me 25 years. The only reason I stopped wearing them was because the soles came off. The only small complaint I would have is getting the fit just right. I went back and forth between a 12 and an 11 1/2 for over an hour and finally settled on a 12 but wore them once and now I 'm thinking they 're a little loose on the back. I may have to return them for size 11 1/2. I hear Footjoy has a 30 day return policy. My experience with Footjoys is they are the number on e shoe in golf for 1 reason. Quality
