Really warm underlayer. Used to ski on freezing temp and this plus good ski jacket was enough… even when it was snowing… The only thing is that it feels way different then the 2. 0 shirt. I also have one of that and the 3. 0 is more stiff and feels smaller. Specially in the neck and chest.

I purchased this Base Layer 3 shirt when I visited our local outlet store to place an order for another Under Armour shirt I liked. This shirt is thicker than a normal under layer shirt but is still comfortable if you wanted to wear additional layers. The cut of the shirt is super nice you might not want to hide it, though! It has thumb hole openings which are nice. I wore it alone several times since I bought it and was pleased at how well it kept me warm. I liked it so much I went to get a second one. They had sold out of the 3s but I snagged a 2 at least! My only negative comment would be it looks wrinkled when you remove it from the dryer. I only air dried it so maybe some heat might have gotten the wrinkles out. It's black so not that noticeable. Great shirt. I tried to get a 2nd one so obviously am happy with my purchase!

You don ’ t realize how much you need a heated base layer until you have one! It ’s been such a benefit to various aspects of my life. [ This is my go- to base layer for skiing( or any other outdoor cardio activity... if I ever did one). It's form fitting and has great mobility. I always use merino fabric as my base layer since it's' breathable and odor- resistant. This top kept me warm but not overheated in 30 degree weather with a down ski jacket. I prefer to minimize my layers so this top paired with my jacket is all I need in everything but extremely cold or warm skiing weather. They arrived and I absolutely loved them but they are a tad bit short so I exchanged for a M. Reviewing this from the POV of an end user& tech fabric geek. Love the materials of the MH AirMesh. Already have the hoody; just bought the crew. Agree w/ those who say it's very warm when at standstill or w/ a wind layer over top, yet while moving or with wind and no wind layer it's like being naked. To me that says the fabric is functioning precisely how a base layer shoulder. Only con is hypothetical: delicate fabric. I 've had no issues with snags, pilling, abrasion, etc. But I would n't be surprised were I to, given the softness of the fibers and the openness of the fabric they 're arranged into. Cut/fit are unremarkable w/ exception of the somewhat high neck hole and the different accent fabric used there. Packs tiny, resilient fibers bounce back into shape immediately. Most comparable to the Patagonia Cap Air wool base layer, minus the itchiness/roughness and the ultra premium price point. Also, like Polartec Power Stretch pro, but much lighter and more airy fabric, fwiw.

In the first image, it is very light and breathable, but the fibers inside seem to be easily lost, and there are some fibers in the hand after a little scratch. I am 167cm tall and my bust is 98cm, so I wear a size M which is very comfortable. I bought 2 at the same time, for me it should be good for sweating a lot without losing warmth. It's a great base layer and good for cool/cold weather chillin'. Be aware that there is zero wind blocking- it's a mesh fabric- you must have a shell if you 're hiking/skiing/walking to mailbox. That said- I 've hiked in 15- 20F with wind and just this base and a heavy shell no problem. Note: It's very `` roomy ''. [ Merino is THE stuff for active comfort in the cold. The key is staying dry between rain, snow, and sweat... it's challenging. 100%( 95 and 88 also good) merino helps to achieve this goal. It's warm when you need it to be and water( all types) evaporates quickly to keep you from getting chilled from damp clothing. It's got to be part of a system though, and you have to use that system properly or you will get damp and cold. We just came back from five nights in our tent@ an avg. of 26F at night. After hiking all day in these and then, putting on fresh Smartwool tops and bottoms we were warm all night( we could have stayed in the same set if we had to). Medium weight is probably fine for most applications, but do be sure you 've got the right system for the conditions. In summer and spring it's less critical, but in winter( THE best time IMO)... having the wrong gear can make for a miserable experience... and a dangerous one. Smartwool has the added benefit of being able to go in the dryer at home... not all merino products can. That's my take.

This shirt is fantastic. It ’s basically just a much needed upgrade version of the 1/2 zip elements. What I mean by that is the material is soft and comfortable and stretchy. The shirt also has a mesh ’s area running on the bottom of the arm that goes along the whole sleeve which is nice to help with cooling off. Also it seems to be lighter than the elements which helps it be a better choice to wear on warmer days. Hope these stick around and get more colors. I definitely recommend these especially if you were a fan of the 1/2 zip elements.

I 've tried several sun shirts of different brands and majority feel clammy and make me feel hot in the sun. Not this shirt! The material is thin, breathable and very soft on your skin. I actually prefer the quarter zip version over the MH hoody due to the bottom hem design( hoody has a draw string at the bottom which I do n't care for). This shirt also has better neck protection for me since I always wear a wide brim hat when I hike and I would n't use the hood. And I really appreciate having quarter zip to allow more air through. [ I have 2 previous versions sphere ii long sleeve t shirts that I wear on summer hike. I like them even if their material is not strong enough for hiking trips. one of them have a few small holes after laundry. this version seems to be stronger because material is thicker. another difference is sizing. I need M size in contrast of S size from previous version.

Carry-on only
[ The only shirts to pack for long trips for carry- on only travel. Light, wicking, perfect color for work or play and super easy to wash and hang dry between 2- 3 days of ware. I 'm 6 '' 2, 175lbs, athletic and I like tighter fitting clothing but not skin tight. Med was perfect, large floats a bit more, but doable for really broad shoulders.

[ I dayhiked around Catoctin Mountain Park a couple weeks ago wearing this with a thin windproof hoodie over it and that kept me happy down to 40° or so. When the sun was up and the wind was down, this shirt by itself did the trick just fine. It's ridiculously soft and breathable.
