The Reluctant Camper
We have used this tent for a couple of years now and still love it. Once we got the hang of it, set up was much easier. We place a tarp underneath to protect the floor, as well as some plastic sheeting on top of the flooring. I think this will increase the life of the flooring. We 've weathered some big storms and have remained leak proof. We are able to fit 3 cots in the main area, and two slim twin sized blow up mattresses in the bed of our van, thus we can sleep 5 fairly comfortably. This was an excellent start- up tent for new campers.

Set up& tear down are simple& intuitive and take only about 20 min. if you take your time. The tent itself is very spacious and easy to connect to the vehicle. It fits our vintage station wagon very nicely. Quality of workmanship and materials appears to be a little better than average, but not rugged. After unfolding the tent the second time we did notice some marring on one of the screens, apparently from the plastic pole sockets. Be sure to use the protective bags that go over these hard plastic pieces before folding for storage. Also while folding, I reached for a corner on the screen room& got only the tarp- like edging that borders the bottom seam& it tore away at the edge a little. Again, not really the fault of the manufacturer, just another area where you need to be carful when setting up& tearing down. To sum up, it is a great product, well designed and easy to use, but its not fool proof.

[ I made my bestfriend put it up when I went camping. She slept in it. I went in there in the morning it was so dark so I do have to say it does keep the light out super easy to put up for both of us of course we are fairly small women. The only issue is the fact that no Coleman tent I have owned goes back into the tent bag in came in. But yourself your own bigger tent bag.

I bought this tent maybe 5 years ago now and it has held up through more than I ever thought it would. I 've camped recreationally a number of times but I 've also been in a couple situations where I was homeless and had to make this tent my home and I could not have asked for a better product, i lived in this tent in the cold and the hot in nice weather and storms with 50mph gusts of wind where the side wall was on my face while I was sleeping. I want to express my gratitude to core equipment for making an incredibly solid product at an affordable price so thank you and keep up the good work.

Received our wine colored purchase 6/4/24 and set it up in the back yard. Forecast predicted showers and thunderstorms the next couple days so wanted to put it to the test. IT PASSED with flying colors IMO. Predicted thunderstorm came through the night of 6/5 in our north Alabama county. Watched the tent sway with wind gusts of, I ’ d say, 40mph. Was a bit concerned as I was watching but it held up and stayed anchored. Now, I did use Coghlans 7 ” aluminum stakes as opposed to those provided and insert on a 30- 45 degree angle as well.

Have not used the new 10' x 9' tent as of yet due to current winter season. Can not really see difference in material between two tents. Advertisement states a heavier tent material for the 10'x9' model, I hope so. Again the set up is extremely easy and fast even for one person. Wanted to make sure because I often take with me on a solo fishing trip in early March and just wanted to make sure there would be no hassle in setting the tent up. Lots of ventilation ports at the base in a huge area under the rain fly for ventilation including the screens in door and sides which are ideal for the 90+ degree temp we have during the summer months. Great height for this straight wall tent more than 6 feet and center. Will add further comments after first couple of use of the new tent which I am looking forward to as the spring come around. I recommend this tent. The Core company I believes will stand by their products and not disappear overnight as so many in this line of products. Their reputation appears to be very solid.

This tent is AMAZING. I was able to put the tent up by myself. The directions were clear and attached to inside the bag. The material is thicker than the normal tents. Take down went great and everything went inside the bag, with extra room no less! For the price, I am very impressed with this tent and would definitely recommend it. I would say it sleeps about 4 people if you are using cots or blow up mattresses. 6 if you are using mats.

Bought this tent a long time ago, about fourteen years. Has held up great for that time. Ten min. set up time with two people. Hooked this tent to the back of my truck that has a cap. Worked great as a second room. I use the truck as a bedroom. Sleeve zips off for a third door option if using the tent alone. The only problem was when it rained one time and a pool formed between the cap and the tent on the sleeve. If it was on the right car maybe this would n't happen. The other thing that should be done to make set up easier is to mark the center of each tent pole. This is to mark the apex of the tent to tie the roof ties to. You will see what I mean when you set up. Would I buy this tent again? Yes. And I have never put any kind of waterproofer or seam sealer on and never had a leak.

I used the tent for the first time this past weekend and thought it was great!! My wife even enjoyed camping and I was n't sure that was possible. I heard from reviews that people said that it was hard to set up, but me and my friend set it up for the first time in the dark and only took us 10 minutes, very simple. They even have a video that shows you how to set it up, I would advise watching it first if you are unsure. Others said that it wouldnt fit back in the bag that it comes with, but again, I had no problem with it at all. The only cons were the tent pegs that came with it. They had no point at the end and bent everytime you hammered them in. I went to REI and bought some titanium tent pegs and problem was solved. The only other con was that when using the zippers, they sometimes catch the overflap fabric. Not sure how to fix it yet, but not a big concern. The tent is big and very roomy. I 'm 6' 5 '' and could walk around the tent with no problem. I have a 2004 Toyota 4Runner and the fit was perfect. Great tent, cant wait to use it again!

Love the idea of attaching this tent to my SUV. My wife and I have spent many a nights stacking stuff form the back into the front seats to make room for us in the back. This tent arrived and we headed out to go camping, first stop Holter Lake Montana, fee for camping sights vehicles on pavement tents on grass, you can imagine that we could not drive stakes into the ground when half would have to go through pavement. Headed out of Holter to camp at the Bridge where the access road to Holter meets up with the river at wolf creek canyon. Pitched the tent, pole, stakes everything and lit the barbeque and settle down for the night. Then the wind came and tent blew away. Lesson learned point the vehicle into the wind if known or possible( keep in mind, Eastern Montana is some of the windiest area in the United States. Packed up and headed home in the middle of the night. Two days later headed out to Yogo Creek Montana, found a remote site and set up camp, some wind but it was steady and we pointed vehicle into the wind. Everything else went off without a hitch, beautiful clear creek, camp fire and tent did fine in the 10 to 12 mph wind gust. One small problem, the straps that attach to the tent and come over the top of the vehicle and attach under the hood. When the wind blows is raddles those straps and makes a noise like a semi using air brakes. I will be going to the dollar store and buying some cheap pool noodles, slicing them half way and attaching them over those straps to stop this in the future. Over all glad I bought the tent, roomy and pretty easy to set up and break down.

Perfect size and easy set up! Instant tents are amazing and there is no going back to pole tents for my family. The rain fly was a great quality but may be a tad difficult to put on for one person just because of height. The ONLY gripe I have is how it is next to impossible to get the tent back in the bag, but all tents have this issue. Id recommend not even trying and putting it in a different bag or wrap it in a tarp. Otherwise it is perfect!!

This is a Great product. I had no issues in setting this up. There is tension in the bars that hold up the tent but by not over forcing the extension of these bars it went up easy. I saw posts where others bent the bar but i suspect they were overly aggressive during set up By not rushing into it my tent was up quickly. As for 6 person, if small kids the ok but i am 71 and an air bed is a must. So plenty of room for myself and wife.

Bought this a few months back. We have two children and two dogs. I decided to go big, because when we go campgrounds, I like to have a little more space to move around( I have hiking backpacks for those adventures). This tent did not disappoint. We have it set up with two twins air mattresses on one side, one king on the other, and the dogs sleep in the middle. One mistake I made was assuming all Core 12 Person Footprints are the same. Make sure you get the Straight Wall Cabin Footprint or you 'll be left with one that doesn ’ t quite fit( see picture). I just ordered the new Straight Wall Footprint and can ’ t wait to use it! Overall water resistance is good, we did get rained on one night with no leaks. Airflow is decent with all windows down. If you want to be a bit extra, we did use an EcoFlow Wave 2 portable air conditioner in the tent and it dd help lower the temp and create more airflow at night( TX gets a little warm). Unlike the other 12 Person Instant Tents, this Straight Wall Cabin can be used without staking it into the ground. I enjoy that feature as some places it ’s hard to drive a stake in. The Instant cabin will collapse without it being staked in. The Tent Kit is also a great addition. Everything you need is there and convenient. I can set it up by myself, but is better with 2 people, especially with the rain fly.

Big Tent, Great Quality- But Could Be Better… Missing A Few Things. This tent is really big inside having the straight side wall design. I have the Core 10 person 14 ’ x 10 ’ instant lighted tent to compare this against for reference. The 16 ’ x 11 ’ straight wall tent seems twice as roomy, able to push items closer to the tent sides and stand every where in it. The instant tent with the sloped side walls kind of bunches the mass towards the middle and it forces you to stand more central in the tent. But the instant tent with the built light in makes for a nice feature. Also, the 16 ’ x 11 ’ straight wall tent is missing the long mesh storage pockets that come with the 14 ’ x 10 ’ instant tent. The instant tent has mesh storage along each end of it that runs side to side and several smaller mesh pouches strategically placed around the tent. The 16 ’ x 11 ’ straight wall tent only has a small mesh storage pouch placed on opposite ends of the tent. Give me the long storage pockets and a built in light and this tent would be the best around. It ’s already great with the space it provides and the material/build quality. It was a little time consuming to assemble by myself, but very intuitive with color coded poles that “ pop ” together when unfolding for length and easy insertion into the pole loops. Take down is a breeze, quick and efficient. I ’ ve put it up twice and camped overnight once having just purchased it. Wanted to try putting in all the stuff the wife and I bring camping- air mattress, small tables, chairs, coolers, etc. No buyer ’s remorse, just can ’ t wait for cooler weather and longer camping trips. I ’ ve had the 14 ’ x 10 ’ instant tent for several week long trips and was always moving items around to get at things or find a place to sit and stand. This 16 ’ x 11 ’ tent will put an end to that. I would recommend the 16 ’ x 11 ’ straight wall tent for a family needing space and freedom to move around inside with several occupants.

[ I recently had the pleasure of using this fantastic 6- person tent on a camping trip, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! Although it ’s labeled for six people, it comfortably fits four with plenty of space for everyone to stretch out and relax, but that ’s common for tents and I expected that going in and in a survival scenario you probably could squeeze six in there. The black- out interior is really nice as it provides a perfectly dark environment for a restful night ’s sleep, even if the sun is still out as can be common during the mid- summer evenings. I thought the interior would be hotter being mostly black, but it actually wasn ’ t bad. Regardless we were camping during the summer, so we opened the air flow flaps that still have a mesh covering to keep out bugs but allow for additional cooling. What truly impressed me was the ease of setup. I was skeptical of the 60- second advertisement for setup, but I actually had the tent pitched and ready in under 60 seconds, which made settling in a breeze and left more time for enjoying our surroundings. The design is intuitive and straightforward, making it ideal for anyone new to the outdoors. I will say that it is bulky, so there would not be a way to take it on a backpacking trip, but it is great for and really shines at a campground site. It ’s in a long bulky bag, so it might be a little difficult to pack in the car with camping equipment. Overall, this tent combines comfort and convenience in one nice package.

So easy to put up! Literally took a minute. Also, really big, but lots of activity space for our family inside. Poles seem really sturdy. Could totally have a tom Haverford set up, if that was your thing. Honestly could have gotten a smaller tent, but I guess I just got greedy. Our 3 year old and dogs loved hanging out in it. Plan on taking it camping this weekend. It is a little heavy packed up, kinda obvious, but if you ’ re a smaller person, you may need a buddy to help carry it.

Our new favorite piece of equipment. Heavy, but worth it. Got it up with the rain fly in less than 5 minutes, which is priceless when you have an on- the- go toddler that hates to be contained! BOY WAS I WRONG. it was so dark i literally had to have a flashlight to go into my tent. really enjoyed camping in it. it was easy to setup, easy to pull down. lots of space inside. came with a center divider that was not see through. 2 doors on the `` front '' and one on the `` back ''. I 'm going to be completely honest. I went camping one time and it rained so long and so hard that my tent literally flooded inside to 2 1/2 inches of water. I really would love to be able to buy a full rainfly for this tent to make me completely satisfied. I 'm always skeptical of `` water resistant '' tents. Other than that, this tent rocks and i actually want the larger 12 person or 3 section cabin tent with blockout tech. i think my only gripe is that it does n't have a door matt with it. but that is not always a bad thing, and i understand that. PLEASE LET ME BUY A FULL RAINFLY FOR THIS!

My brother goes on an annual camping trip every year in July and he found this moderately easy to assemble( with help from the instructions). Used for the 4th of July holiday. It was 114 degrees out all 4 days. The tent worked out great. We were able to sleep in until around 8 am because it stays so dark but of course it got hot inside with the extreme temps. Any tent would. We are 100% satisfied with our purchase. The tent was up in a few minutes with the help of my wife. Taking the tent down was just as easy, tent was down and ready to go within 2- 4 minutes. Had the Storm Break 3 years so far, and maybe a couple/few dozen uses. At half the price of the similarly featured tents from the pro competition, it's an impressive tent IMO. It's a couple pounds heavier, but that has very little effect in my application( mostly motorcycle camping). I 've had zero problems with poles, zippers, stitching, fabric, or other parts/details. I 'm relatively careful and use common sense in setup and breakdown of the tent. I use a decent ground cloth to protect the floor and avoid exposure to sharp sticks and rock etc. Also avoid over tensioning the loops and holding points when staking and setting up guylines. I 'm careful with zippers and do n't force them or zip/unzip carelessly or super fast. In my limited experience, the zippers have been excellent. The vestibule flap zippers can be a bit fussy, and I simply use a finger to `` lead '' the zipper- pull path; this prevents the overlap fabric from getting caught in the pull. I 've used it in light rain and moderately windy conditions, but not in extreme weather. It has performed and held up just fine. Having read some of the negative reviews, I do n't understand how poles can just `` break '' or bend into some strange wavy deformed condition that some have claimed- that's odd IMO, and makes me wonder if those individuals are n't revealing the entire story/truth or maybe were careless? Setup is quick and pretty simple, and is doable in the dark if you 're familiar with the process and the tent. I really like the overall design and features: roomy, vestibules, inside mesh pockets in all 4 corners, interior hanger loops, the fly- great tent in my experience!

I 've had my dog in it with my( 110lbs). and spent probably 50 nights in it since i bought it a couple of years ago. I bought this tent long before the pandemic and have taken it car camping 2- 3 times a year since. Everyone loves how these set up so fast, including me, but putting it away is a bit more work, just FYI. I have found that sort of rolling it up and leaning on it with your body weight at the end works. I do n't think I 'll ever go back to the traditional pole tent set up. Favorite part of this tent is the mesh ceiling. If the forecast is dry, you can leave the rainfly off and look at the stars. After about a dozen times camping, during a windstorm, one of the pole connections broke and we 've had to hobble together a solution, but we 've taken it camping still at least 4- 5 more times since. P. S. It's pretty waterproof, but you really need to stake it well for the rain to go where you want it to. Also, because of the slanted walls, you do n't want your air mattress touching the sides during the rain either.

These has thoroughly impressed me so far, we ’ ve used this tent for several years on several annual camping trips now. Our tent survived the winds of a distant tornado that passed through our town. Not a bad tent size- wise, but it came with NO directions but for 3 very small steps( I mean, SMALL) on the outside of the tent zip bag. Overhead fly takes a while to figure out; you need to attach one of the bottom clips, then another, then drag the fly over the top and continue snapping the clipper tabs as you go until all 4 are in place at the 4 corners. I will be contacting the company this week to ask for directions on how to take it down easier, as the attached poles are difficult to fold up. This is in no way a one- minute set- up.

[ This tent is a little bigger than what we needed as a family( 3people+ 1dog) for weekend camping trips, but that's what we wanted. This is not a cabin tent so I do n't need to worry about high winds causing too much stress on the frame and tent seams. I love that I do n't have to stoop whenever I 'm inside the main part of the tent. The two vestibules created when the rain fly is on the tent are great for leaving muddy shoes outside but still under cover. There were plenty of pockets on the inside of the tent for our stuff and one great thing about them was that the pockets kept your stuff away from the walls... no morning dew on your stuff!!! Setup was simple; follow the directions on the tag of the tent bag. I tried to just logic my way through it the first time and one of my poles got a little bent... not bad, but I felt like an idiot. Followed the directions the text time and it went up easy. Also, 1 person can set this tent up, 2 people is better. 1 person can take this tent down without any difficulty. The rain fly has so many Velcro straps on the underside to wrap around the poles to help keep it in place. I used maybe 2 at each vestibule end and staked out the vestibules. The rest of the fly I left in place using only the clips to the main tent. We were n't expecting much wind so I did n't bother with the rest or the guy lines and the tent did just fine. Also, the seams are taped inside using some kind of flexible water repellant tape/adhesive... awesome!!! I ca n't say how many times I 've camped in the past and the seams are the first place where condensation forms and starts dripping... that's annoying. Taped seams should solve, or at the very least help with that problem. I would definitely recommend this tent.

[ Just what I was looking for. First two times it was used got decent rain and it stayed perfectly dry. Had very strong winds that collapsed one side( while nobody was in it and I don ’ t have it tied down, just staked) and it popped right back up when the wind stopped. No damage. The “ wings ” make it a little more difficult to set up with a good tight stretch on all sides, but I do love that extra space inside.

PROS:- Very easy to set up.- Main tent body is mostly mesh; nice for ventilation and stargazing. I come from the outdoor retail industry, and have been raised on very high- end gear. I have the Mountain Hardwears and the North Faces, etc. They 're amazing, and the Quest tent can not be placed in the category occupied by the big boys. Now with that out of the way, I have to say this about Quest: Wow. I bought this tent as something cheap about which I would n't cry if my kids ruined it. As I type this in late November in the northeast US, the tent has been set up in my back yard for almost three months. It's been through rain, wind and direct sun exposure for all that time, and it's dry inside, standing soundly and the fabric appears no worse for wear. I have no explanation for this, since it's not unfair to say that the Quest is a budget tent, and affordable things are never any good! Right? Well, in this case, please buy with confidence. For the backyard or campgrounds, I think you could do a LOT worse. Not sure I 'd want to haul this thing cross- country for remote camp- outs where things can get hairy, but for most of us, it 'll serve well. The fiberglass poles have taken a bit of a `` set '' while left standing for so long, meaning they have a slight permanent curve to them now, but I doubt most people are in the habit of leaving tents standing for three months. It's great. Getchya one.

[ A little over two years ago we bought this tent for car camping. When it first arrived we were impressed by how light it was. We set it up which was easy for one person and noticed how spacious this tent is! Personally I am coming from the two person dome tent land but we decided we wanted to be able to stand up to change and have a queen raised air mattress. There is so much room in this tent it ’s amazing. The fly goes to the ground so in a few severe thunderstorm we stayed dry. Wind 30 mph gusts might blow it down the back side in a headwind but if you anchor the guy lines it will withstand it. The walls are almost completely screens which could be a weakness in the design. We tent to camp into late September in northern Maine in New Hampshire and some nights get into the 30 ’s but we have heavy sleeping bags for those nights. The vestibule is so large we have played cards by sitting in two chairs and having a small table set up. Overall we are very happy with the quality and design of this tent!

Got a good deal on what looked like a returned item. Zipper quality is impressive and set up is fast and easy. Only negative is without the rain canopy it ’s wide open screening. That only was an issue when it was hot outside and needed privacy.

[ Nice tent at first blush. Easy to put up. Plenty of space. Brand has a long history of super durable outdoor gear. The stow bag is awesome and leaves room for a footprint if you use one. And pretty darn affordable. There ’s an odd detail on the rain fly at the front vestibule. The pole sleeve creates a kind of gutter that will push water back toward the tent and seam in the fly. I have yet to test the tent in a real howler so I can ’ t say if the issue is of serious concern. Also I think the older model had clear plastic on the fly windows. This model has kind of a cheesy flap instead which is disappointing. Overall though me and the fam love the tent and look forward to many great adventures in it for years to come.

We were ablet to stay sheltered with our group of friends when it rained or when the mosquitos decided to attack! Tailgate for a hockey game? Yep. Camping trip? Absolutely. This tent is high quality and versatile. It was a little intimidating to set up initially due to the size, but once my partner and I understood how the quick- set worked, it was a breeze to set up and take down! I absolutely LOVE this tent. My friend that was 6' 0 was so happy to have a tent he could fully stand up straight in, and it kept out all of the bugs when we went to the beach. It folds up to about the same size as an easy up( maybe just a bit longer), and it light enough for one person to carry. I have n't tried to set it up by myself yet, but with two people it's super easy. I imagine that one person could do it alone, but it might be a little tricky just due to the large size and number of walls that it has. The tie downs work great, though I do want to mention that when we took it to the beach on a windy day after a big storm, we used industrial sized stakes to stake it down since we did n't want to take a chance on it blowing away. It never had a single issue with the wind, and kept everyone( and the dogs!) shaded and happy!

I love how roomy this tent is, and the material is more heavy duty than a backpacking tent. The zipper is a bit of getting used to but the door opening is very nice. Tent setup was a head scratcher as I am used to the Jake's foot style. Rereading the instructions, I wish this was a Jake's foot style setup, which is much more intuitive.

I ordered this screen house online at our local Dick's store to take advantage of a local discount offered through our town. I appreciated the ability to compare several other sizes, folded up and unfolded, which led me to go for this size. It showed up nearly a week EARLIER than the estimate given when ordered, and my wife and I immediately took it to our back yard to try to set it up for the first time. The instructions were clear enough and we thought we were all set, but discovered that we had inadvertently allowed a portion of the roof to be turned back over one of the roof/wall intersections. Once we fixed that, it literally popped up into shape. Even with that self- inflicted delay, we had it up in well under 5 minutes. Take down was equally easy. The main reason we went with this screen house was that our previous screen house top was held up by 4 crossing poles which did NOT support the center and turned the old house into a rain- trapping, useless mess. Not so with this design. It supports the mid- point of the roof so it drains. Looking forward to using it when we camp later this summer.

Bought this on Friday for a weekend trip to Montauk Campground on the ocean for the good price. The screenhouse exceeded my low expectations in all areas. It was simple to put up; kept the mosquitos away and withstood a severe thunder storm!! We had to straighten it after the storm but it survived, other canopies and screen houses around us did not! [ This was actually a purchase my brother made( I already have the same setup) we both think it ’s fantastic for a luxury campout in your hammock. Of course it ’s a little extra to carry around but it ’s car camp intended. I ’ ve started recently using mine as a tent for me and my 4 year old. Sizable enough for one person to sleep underneath the hammock child or adult. Had an average sized male use the bottom section a few weeks ago. I personally bought an extra footprint for shoes and pack to be outside the tent especially in this scenario( also adds an additional layer of water protection/warmth in colder wetter month for the sleeper underneath)

[ Bought this for my balcony as we have issues with hornets on our roof. Have had it set up full- time for about a month and love it! With no way to stake it down so I did have to add some weights inside to keep it secure. There is a lot of floor space for belongs. The tent could be a bit taller as I hit my head on the top and I 'm only 5' 1. Could be a bit wider as well for those that like a more diagonal lay. But all in all I 'm very happy with it. Even my cat likes that he can officially be outside.

Totally cool and useful weather pod that's great for windy, chilly, and rainy days when attending my 8 and 10 year old sons lacrosse practices and games. There's adequate interior space to accommodate a comfy( appropriately scaled) camp style chair, mini size cooler, and large tote bag/ backpack. The two side windows, front door, and small flap in the back can be unzipped according to preference and comfort needs. Unlike other weather pods, the front door unzips from the top down rather than the reverse which is much more suitable for control of visibility and comfort. The pod comes with stakes for added stability during increment and/or windy weather. I also like that it comes with a carrying case. The pod is quite easy to open and close once you practice a few times and become more familiar with the process. However, I found it very helpful to first view the video on the manufacturer's website. I highly recommend this amazing pop up pod for protection and comfort on cooler, windy, and/or rainy days.
