Priorities were lightweight, supportive, wearable while climbing, and water bladder compatibility. I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

I used it for backcountry skiing the fit and how it proformed when skinning or skiing excellent. Its only top accessible, and a lack of easy acces pocket for avalanche equipment. Note I knew it was n't a dedicated ski pack wanted something larger then what was available. Was able to comfortably carry and ski with heavier loads. I enjoyed 50 days of skiing something like 35 of them were backcountry here in Alaska. Skiing adventures from Hatcher pass, with lots of local runs near Anchorage, and some trips to Turnagain pass.

[ I had a new Atmos 50L pack and started using it for winter hiking the NH 4K foot mts. It was too big for me as I had the wrong size and not great for winter hiking. The mutant works very well. I have hiked two mts with it so far, with full traction mounted to outside ~28lbs. Attaching snow shoes, crampons and micro spikes works well with all the external attachment straps. The shallow side pockets help hold my hiking poles when needed. The large top is easy to get into, a is the main compartment. I can easily put layers under the top to hold during a layer break. The pack is comfortable and handles very well with the 28lbs. I like the flat back, it is warmer than a mesh and doesn ’ t trap snow. My only complain is the shoulder straps are narrow and do not come down far, which limits what I can attach ti them. My snack bottle works but even in lowest loop is up high. And the loops are small. The front straps are a bit thin, but work fine for holding a crampon bag or even the snow shoes I was concerned that the lower padding on hips and waist would not be as comfortable as the atmos. But not so, I don ’ t even notice it, the the mutant is much easier to get into and out off.

This daypack is a well- rounded minimal travel daypack. One large compartment that is expandable. Folds down flat so it can be packed. Comes with a couple of well placed straps for compression and stability( sternum strap). The bottom is made of a more durable material. It's not too hard to pack and make this backpack stand on its own. Looks great too! Small con: bottle side pockets can be hard to use if pack is full. Maybe stretchy side pockets would work better. Would suggest Fjallraven team explore two- tone color options in the future.

I grabbed this with the intention of it being an addition to my bike set up. I was torn between this bag and the Abisko Hike Foldsack but decided upon this one because it rolls up and can easily store on my bike during transit. On my way home with groceries I can unroll it and wo n't have to worry about stuffing everything into my handle bar bag. Admittedly, when I bought this bag, I did n't realize it was a diaper bag. I got it because of the number of pockets. It's the Toyota Sienna of backpacks! I 've used it every day for over a year for work carrying a MacBook, full size planner, notebook, full pen pouch, 40oz Owala water bottle, all the chargers, hand sanitizers, and a million other things with ease. If air bubble was a backpack, this is it. Shoulder bags are a pain and get in the way when traveling. This bag made security and boarding a plane and cruise easier and faster. The compartments help keep everything organized and there was enough space for the necessities for a 1 and 3 year old( wipes, diapers, extra clothes). The outer side pockets were big enough for their thermoses, and the back pocket in the bag was just enough to fit a thin changing pad. The straps are padded and comfortable. I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

I love how the laptop sleeve has a false bottom so when you place the laptop in the backpack it does n't accidentally knock the surface the backpack may be resting on. This is my only go- everywhere bag that I take with me any time I leave the house. I ’ ve been using it for three years and I love it as much as the day I got it. I keep my phone in the back top- zippered compartment, and AirPods and lip balm in the small front pocket. In the main compartment slip pocket I have a notebook, pen, stain remover; in the rest of the compartment, I have alcohol hand spray, a pack of tissues, prescription glasses in their case standing up, and beside the glasses a Fjällräven pencil case in which I carry my must- haves( Advil, pocket knife, measuring tape, Bandaids, sanitary pad, alcohol wipes, nail file, hair elastic, eye glasses spray cleaner, snack). The glasses case and the Fjällräven pencil case stand up perfectly side by side, and in front of them I keep my Fjällräven Zip Wallet( filled with approximately 15 cards and cash). All of these items combined fit into the Sling without issue, and I can still put my large set of keys inside if I don ’ t want them in my pocket or clipped to the sturdy strap. In one of the side pockets, I keep a reusable bag. For a bag this small, it ’s amazing all that it can hold, and it ’s super comfortable to wear and have on all day. My one word of caution is to not wear the bag with any kind of delicate athletic/spandex- type clothing since the heavy- duty woven strap can snag or pull the fabric. For people who talk about colour transfer, please use common sense. If you buy the bag in a light colour, yes, of course, it will get dirty( the light colours make no sense to me and don ’ t blame the company for that)!! Similarly, yes, do not wear the bag in a dark colour rubbing against a white shirt. It ’s obvious from the material of the Sling that colour can transfer in both ways. I have mine in Dark Forest( same colour as my backpack and several items of clothing) and absolutely adore it. I love how I can grab the bag by the handles or the long strap, how everything is securely zipped, how hard- wearing the material is, and how I can also hook things to the bag if necessary. I can ’ t recommend it enough.
