I purchased 2 other brand vest from other suppliers, and though the fit was okay the support provided by the vests were less than 3 1/2 lbs. On my 56 lb Aussie it was fashionable only. The `` BayDog '' Monterey Bay life vest is very well made with extra stiching at all of the strap and clip points, adjustable straps make custom fitting a breeze. If you are hesitating, don ’ t. This vest is for the ones that won ’ t stay out of the pool or the lake and would swim till they are exhausted! Our golden is short and stubby and 70 lbs and loves her life vest. We have both the Large and Medium size. She wears both but the Large is a bit big around. She stands still for us to put it on, which if she hated it, she wouldn ’ t.

I bought this on a whim just to see if my puppy would even consider swimming with my family, and let me just say it was a success. I have a miniature poodle about 12- 13 pounds and he was a little nervous at first and all it took was a bit of encouragement and he jumped right in. He swam for maybe and hour and an half and he was so upset when I told him it ’s time to dry off. He was soon playing lifeguard and attempted to save us all when we were diving underwater. The vest itself is well made and I like the additional neck and stomach support it has.

I really love this life vest for my pups! I have two golden doodles, one is 60 pounds and the other is 50. I bought a large for my larger dog, and a medium for the smaller. I bought this this weekend for a trip to the cabin for the 4th of July. I loved the design of the zipper on to and the buckle on the front so simple to put on your pup when wet or dry and the handle was so helpful getting her back on the dock or from the boat in to the water. [ We bought this harness in an XS for our puppy when we first got her and she was only 15lbs. It fit her until she hit about 45lbs and then was at its max size and getting a little snug, so we upgraded to the size M, which now fits her comfortably and should fit her for the rest of her life since she's almost done growing. These harnesses are durable and even though they say to hand wash, I threw the old one in the wash on delicate cycle and hung it to dry and it was fine.

[ I 've tried several different brands of life vests for dogs, and while this is pricey, it's the best there is. It's sleek, streamlined, unencumbering, making movement for my dogs as uninhibited it can be. I love that the bottom is well fitted, no loose straps( straps are securely velcroed) no loose flaps that just drags in water. It's just well made and well designed.
