I was thinking about getting XtraTuf boots for a long time but never had any reason to until I started needing a waterproof boot that wasn ’ t a full tall winter boot. I ’ m glad I got them. They aren ’ t breathable( as I expected) due to the waterproofing of the boot, but the fact that they are short boots helps them breathe a little more than a tall boot. They are very comfortable and I have even wore them for short hikes because I decided not to change my shoes. They have quickly became my everyday winter shoe/boot. I love the purple color, it is so fun, but when mud splashed on them it stays visible until you wash it off. The one time I did scrub them off they did clean up relatively nicely, but if you want an easier maintenance boot, I would get a darker color.

I ’ m on my second pair. They last about 14 months for me. But I truly don ’ t mind because these are by far the most comfortable deck boot/shoe whatever you wan na call it that I ’ ve worn. I compare the soul of the boot to one of the “ helm pads ” that are nice and squishy and comfy to save your feet back and knees on those nasty days running in a 27 ’ cc. With these no matter where you stand you have a helm pad under your feet. I ’ ve had many pairs of the original 6 ” xtratufs over the years and one pair of all black leathers 6 ” boots for work and the sports are still by far my favorite. If I ever hear they are going to discontinue this line, I will hoard as many pairs as I can lol. My last pair of deck boots lasted me three years before cracking on the crease point near the balls of my feet. I put them through everything. A lot of forestry work. The only issue I have is comfort. My current job requires standing on concrete for up to 6 hours a day. My feet start to hurt after a few hours. I definitely recommend buying inserts if you can. [ I 've been looking for an alternative to my Xtratuffs and came across these. The comfort on the midsole is what I was really looking forward too. Long days on my feet on a 10+ hour workday means I need all the comfort I can get and so far these shoes have met my expectations. So far the outer water protection layer is holding up. The only downside I 've found so far is the opening to the shoe is narrow and I have to wear long socks or pants that come down to protect my shins from all the rubbing and hitting from walking.

[ I was looking for a sneaker that was breathable and would dry quickly for my trip to Costa Rica. These were perfect! Waterproof shoes are n't great for climates like Costa Rica's because they make your feet hot. Instead, finding a shoe like the PFG Castback TC that could get dirty, be washed in the sink/shower, and then dry quickly, fit the bill. I normally wear a 7. 5 or 8 wide, the 7. 5 fit me perfectly and the shoe did n't feel tight. The only thing I 'd like to see change is Columbia remove the `` blood n' guts '' label on the shoe physically. I understand that's a rating they give the shoe for the fact that those things can be cleaned off easily when fishing, but it's a bit weird to have actually ON the shoe itself. I 'd love to see some darker color options for this shoe for women's fit!

I really like these boots – as many others have stated, these run wider than the normal deck boots but are also more cushioned and stable because of the thicker outsole. I ’ ve had my pair for about two years, use them for yard chores, working outside, mud/snow, etc. I like the original deck boots for wearing on the boat since they ’ re lighter and less clunky. Still, I find these much more comfortable, wear them almost daily and would highly recommend them!

Bought these since I moved from AK over to the east coast. Wanted something lighter and a bit more breathable than the womens legacy boots. I wore these everywhere. Gardening, hiking, walking the dog 3+miles a day, to work, doing errands, slipping them on in the early morning to pick up dog poop. These were easy to slip on and off. My feet stayed dry. In the dead of summer, they can get a bit hot. My regular running shoes are even hot! but overall my feet did not overheat. The shoes had great traction. It's been about a year and they are still great. I may have worn down the soles from so much use. My only con is: the foot cushions might stick to your bare feet if you do n't wear socks.

I bought these boots for my teen daughter- they were at the top of her Christmas list.
