I have worn them indoors for 1- 2 hours without difficulty and then started wearing them outdoors for 1- 2 hour walks with my dog. We were on sidewalks and in wooded areas. Ankle: Inside Right ankle was sore through 40 miles. This was due to rubbing up against part inside ankle padding that attaches outside Hook Eyelet. Pros: 1. Sturdy- No breakdown of any material or stichibg above the sole 2. Comfortable- After break in period of 40 miles, ankle pain went away. Hard to tell boots are even on during each hike. 3. Sole- Slight wear on heal and outside ball- nothing significant 4. Grip- excellent. I do have to go down hill on 20% grade for 70 feet on loose gravel, no slip Overall 1. I Recommend these boots 2. The dark brown leather is blemish free. The feeling of fit wearing thick wool socks is comfortable, no odd pressure points along the upper or side portion of the shoes. I bought these boots over a year ago. So far they have been pretty good. I work as a full time diesel technician and occasionally have to do landscaping and construction work and these boots have held up pretty well to everything I do. The oil, diesel, break cleaner, etc have not hurt the leather nor the stitches at all. I will say I am disappointed in the insoles, being that they only lasted me about 4 months. I have had to replace the insoles quite often but mainly because I do weigh about 255 lbs and have a very wide foot. Also the hook eyelet on my left boot broke after about 6 months as well. The water proof feature has been great even for being a lace up boot. I ’ ve been I some fairly deep water( nearly covering up the entire boot) and haven ’ t had any water go into these boots or the leather. All in all these boots have been a strong and sturdy boot for what I need them for. I ’ d recommend them highly since I haven ’ t had much issues with them besides the two mentioned and have found them super comfortable

They are extremely comfortable to stand in all day they feel like they are still breaking in. Extremely satisfied with these boots though there do run extremely big. I actually do n't own these shoes, but I tried them on in an 8 at the store( I wear 8. 5 but they only had whole sizes) and wanted to say that they are pretty narrow and snug. My Blacksmiths are about 3 years old. I broke them in by walking 5. 8 miles afterwork on the boardwalk in Ocean City in the dead of winter, my walking club would laugh at me, and I ’ d be a liar if I said it wasn ’ t tough.. It was the best break I ’ ve ever pulled off, I wear ‘ em with no socks all the time these bad boys are like gloves on my feet.. The only treatment I ever do is some Hubbards Shoe Grease if I remember, I just smear it all over the seams, just in case… I was stomping around in puddles just the other day thinking about what a great product RedWing makes, I have boots from the other ‘ big ’ brands, my# 8 Last Blacksmiths are my goto, if I can ’ t wear FlipFlops, Love ‘ em, they are Super Dope!

I have had my Blacksmiths for about 9 months now a minimal break end phase is well over. I decided to give my boots a boost in flavor by adding Rose Anvil Kilties. I was able to find every color assortment that RW offers in Rose Anvil's extensive selection of Kilties. The Kilties gave my boots a bit more flavor than expected.

I expected a break- in period but these blacksmiths were comfortable out of the box. Soft but supportive and the fit was perfect for me. No chafing, roomy but not loose. The traction was good even in wet weather. And they are fine to wear even during hot and humid days where I live. Chose the copper rough and tough because I think the look is so classic and understated. Love the versatility as well. Can use them with just about every pair of pants and( even shorts) in my closet. I wear them almost everyday and feel they ’ ll stand up to all the walking I do. Well worth the price and looking forward to picking up more Red Wing boots down the line.

Just bought these and very comfortable out of the box. Went up a little from my usual size in Red Wing( 10. 5) to 11. If these were suede, definitely would have stayed with 10. 5. Nice fit and finish. The toe looks more bulbous in photos than in person.
