This product works exactly as described. I would have given this 5 stars but the mounting hardware that comes with the item is not worth 2 cents. I went to install and the wall anchors( no lip) actually went all the way through the wall so I just ended up using some wall anchors with a rounded lip that I already had. Much nicer than the Scotty product, and if you get the Starport HP mount instead, a much lower profile mount if you ’ re doing a non- fishing trip and don ’ t need the holder mounted. The included mount can be used in either a low profile( more hole cutting, more secure) or high profile setting. I have one mounted in front of me, and the adjustable angle means I can switch it to vertical, and troll with a rod in front of me instead of behind. I have 4 of these and no longer use tip- ups. I use Zebco Dock Demon rods with Abu Garcia spinning reels. Rods are fiberglass and available at Wallyworld for 10 bucks. Graphite rods do n't hold up as well as fiberglass rods.
